You can't have it all.
While the Avalanche are playing better than they have in years, the other team that plays at the Pepsi Center are struggling through their worst slump of the season.
Wednesday night, the Denver Nuggets lost their third game in a row and it came against Atlanta, the worst team in the entire NBA.
"We're going to stop using the words playoffs for a while," said an Angry Michael Malone after the game. "We're not a playoff team. The team you've seen as of late, playoffs should not be in our vocabulary."
Despite their latest setback the Nuggets are still holding on to the 7th playoff position with a 21-20 record, but that didn't mean anything to Malone after the game.
"The way we played tonight is not even close to good enough to getting it done if you want to be a playoff team," said Malone. "Really disappointed in our effort. Fans have every right to be upset. If I was paying money to see this team play and they put that kind of a performance on I wouldn't come back."
The Nuggets did not practice on Thursday. They will play host to Memphis on Friday night as they look to put an end to their longest losing streak of the season.
