KUSA - Monday was a special day for the lone member of the Broncos that attended a service academy – and not just because it's Memorial Day.

Offensive lineman Ben Garland was promoted to Captain in the Air Force and Colorado Air National Guard.

Garland continues to honor his commitment of the military as well as chase his dream of playing in the National Football League. He was signed by the Broncos as a college free agent in 2010 but spent that season on Denver's reserve/military list while fulfilling his obligations with the Air Force Academy.

The former Falcon became a member of the Broncos practice squad the past two seasons.
