The Denver Broncos signed running back Juwan Thompson from their practice squad on Saturday.

They also placed running back C.J. Anderson on injured reserve following the knee injury he suffered during last weekend's game.

Thompson is a third-year player who saw action in 30 games (1 start) for the Broncos during the last two seasons after being signed by the club as a college free agent from Duke University. He spent the first seven weeks of the 2016 season on Denver’s practice squad.

His career totals include 72 rushes for 320 yards (4.4 avg.) with three touchdowns and 10 receptions for 76 yards (7.6 avg.). Thompson registered a career-best 272 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 54 attempts as a rookie in 2014.

Anderson has led the Broncos in rushing during two of the last three seasons, including a team-high 437 yards and four touchdowns on 110 attempts (4.0 avg.) in 2016.
