The Broncos will be a tad thinner in their locker room Wednesday after they cut veteran outside linebacker Kasim Edebali from their 53-man roster and lost running back Jonathan Williams off their practice squad to the New Orleans Saints.

Edebali played three seasons for the Saints until he became a non-tendered restricted free agent this offseason. He signed a one-year, $1.2 million deal with the Broncos where he was a seldom-used backup to the likes Von Miller, Shaq Barrett and Shane Ray.

Edebali had one tackle and no sacks in nine games. The Broncos have not yet made a corresponding roster move.

Williams, who was making a relatively large, $30,000 a week practice squad salary, was signed away by the Saints, who placed him on their 53-man roster.

Williams never was promoted to the big team because of a crowded running back group that still includes C.J. Anderson, Jamaal Charles, Devontae Booker and rookie De’Angelo Henderson.
