It was a big night of Big Air in Denver Friday, as crowds gathered to watch metro area Olympian Chris Corning make a run at a medal.

In true Colorado Fashion, a crowd gathered at Little Machine Beer to celebrate a home grown Olympic athlete, including people who've known Corning for years.

"When I look at the bottom of my board it's the same one up there," said Steve Hulsberg.

"It's going to be a good night," said Mike Gagliardi, who's known Chris Corning since he was a kid. "Watching our riders who are 22, 24, he was 14 he's doing the same tricks."

He intently watched as Corning competed among the best in front of the world at just 18-years-old.

All eyes were focused on the screen for the first race, and there were plenty of cheers after the second. And then the final run and the only fall.

And even though Corning was just shy of the podium, he took fourth place - deserving of the immediate cheer that erupted for him in Denver.

"He knows he did his best, you got to be happy with the kid," said Gagliardi.

And in this crowd's eyes he walked away triumphant.

"He's just hitting his prime. The kid will be back, predict that! This kid Chris Corning, he will be back," Gagliardi said.
