VAIL - The sun didn't shine in Vail Saturday until just after the USA Pro Challenge Stage 6 podium award. However, if you look at Tejay van Garderen's final time in the the day's race, you'd think the sun was shining on him the entire day.

Last year Tejay won this event and broke a course record with a time of 25:01. On Saturday, he annihilated his record with a time of 24:26, almost 35 seconds faster than his time in 2013. He averaged 24.6 miles up Vail Pass.

Tejay will retain his overall lead which is now 52 seconds over Saturday's second place finisher Tom Danielson. Danielson rode the 10 mile course in 25:19:26. The third best rider up the pass was Serghei Tvetcov with a time of 25:34:82.

On Sunday, the Aspen resident will line up in Boulder for Stage 7 in an attempt to keep his lead and defend his 2013 Pro Challenge title.
