Rapids make roster moves ahead of 2018 season

MLS free agency on December 12 is rapidly approaching.

The Colorado Rapids announced several roster moves in advance of the MLS expansion draft and free agency period.

The Rapids announced Monday the contracts of defender Eric Miller, defender/midfielder Jared Watts, and midfielder Sam Hamilton were picked up.

The club declined the contract options on goalkeeper John Berner, defenders Dennis Castillo and Mekeil Williams, midfielders Joshua Gatt and Mohammed Saeid, and forward Alan Gordon.

Additionally, the Rapids announced the contract of Bobby Burling has ended and the club will not purchase the contract of midfielder Luis Gil.

Several key offseason dates are approaching for the Rapids. The MLS expansion draft is on December 12 at noon mountain time and free agency will begin at 1 p.m. A waiver draft will take place on December 13.

Current Colorado Rapids roster:

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard, Zac MacMath.

Defenders: Mike da Fonte, Kortne Ford, Eric Miller, Axel Sjöberg, Jared Watts.

Midfielders: Micheal Azira, Johan Blomberg, Nana Boateng, Shkëlzen Gashi, Marlon Hairston, Sam Hamilton, Ricardo Perez, Dillon Serna.

Forwards: Stefan Aigner, Dominique Badji, Caleb Calvert.
