A Colorado native who's currently aboard the International Space Station gave a shout out to students attending his high school alma mater.

Col. Jack Fischer went to Centaurus High School in Lafayette and graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1996. About two weeks ago he arrived at the space station for his first mission.

In 2014 Centaurus High School students began work on a project to send to the space station. They completed the project and launched it  in 2015, however the rocket failed and it never made it to space.

They rebuilt the project and successfully launched it to the space station in March.
