Extremely windy conditions in northern Colorado closed Interstate 25 between Wellington and the Wyoming border for hours Monday afternoon.
The highway has since reopened.
The Colorado Department of Transportation also said that multiple wrecks are making travel in the area difficult.
The Wellington Fire Protection District tweeted that traffic backed up to the Wellington off ramp.

Winds are gusting 50 to 80 miles per hour in the area, according to 9NEWS Meteorologist Belen De Leon.
