An estimated 30 cars were involved in a wreck along C-470 that shut down the westbound lanes at Alameda Avenue and all but one lane of both exits onto 6th Avenue for the last three hours. All lanes of traffic are open as of 8:30 p.m.

Trooper Gary Cutler with the Colorado State Patrol says there's no clear number on injuries, but none so far have been reported to be serious.

C-470 westbound reopened around 7:15 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation said on Twitter.

CSP got an initial call about the wreck at 3:13 p.m. at Alameda. Cutler says there were a lot of smaller crashes that closed the road. The largest crash only involved four cars.

The snow started coming down quickly and visibility dropped just as cars started to creep onto the major highways in the metro area. While the whole metro saw snowfall, visibility was worst out by Golden.

A Jefferson County sheriff's deputy cruiser was involved in one of the crashes. The person that hit the cruiser was injured and had to be taken to a local hospital, Cutler says.

Westbound Interstate 70 at mile marker 249 (Morrison Road) was also closed Thursday evening for four hours. It reopened around 7:15 p.m. as well. The crash on I-70 happened just before the wreck on C-470 and in the same area.
