Blizzard conditions possible for the Eastern Plains Sunday

Blizzard conditions are possible in the Eastern Plains area of Colorado Sunday night, the National Weather Service Boulder office says.

High winds and heavy snowfall are expected into the evening hours, driving could become somewhat troublesome for motorists and those living east of the urban corridor.

Snowdrifts are likely as anywhere from 4 - 10 inches will fall over the plains and some areas might even see gusts up to 50 mph! Needless to say, driving during the afternoon into evening hours anywhere east of the urban corridor could be trouble.

While the NWS says models are showing the storm slowing down, that doesn't mean it's giving up by any means. Especially in the mountains, this slowdown is going to probably cause even more snow to fall.

It's important to remember, despite predicted high wind gusts and heavy snowfall, the National Weather Service has not yet issued a blizzard warning for any areas. It's too early to tell.

Snowfall is expected to decrease from west to east Sunday evening, according to NWS forecasters.
