Snow moving into Colorado, 1-4 inches expected in Denver metro

Light snow will fall around the Denver metro area through most of the morning while band of heavier snow is moving through Fort Collins and Greeley.

Light snow will fall around the Denver metro area through most of the morning while band of heavier snow is moving through Fort Collins and Greeley.

That band will work its way south moving into Denver by noon. Expect light to moderate snow this afternoon through this evening in the city with 1 to 4 inches falling by tonight in Denver, Fort Collins and Greeley.

Locations on the far eastern plains will see 1 to 3 inches of snow. The heavy snow band moves into southern Colorado tonight, slowly clearing after midnight. Most of southern Colorado remains under Winter Weather Advisories until Sunday morning.

Mountain areas will continue to see snow through Saturday night, as well. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for locations along the Continental Divide, west to Vail Pass and into the southwest San Juans. Up to a foot of snow will fall in the these areas.

Skies will gradually clear across the state overnight tonight and into Sunday morning. Highs Sunday return to average, reaching the middle 40s.
