Spring storm to bring blizzard conditions to eastern Colorado

After days of warm, windy weather a cold front will swing into the state tonight. Moderate snow will begin in the mountains tonight.

A powerful spring snow storm will pound the eastern plains of Colorado with up to 10 inches of snow Friday and Saturday, driven by northern wind gusting up to 65 mph.

Zero visibility may make travel impossible in northeastern Colorado Friday and early Saturday. Adjacent areas in Nebraska, north into South Dakota will also experience blizzard conditions.

For the plains east of Sterling, the combination of high wind and heavy snow is expected to create blizzard conditions Friday morning though Saturday morning.

Colorado's mountains will get healthy snow Thursday night into Friday evening with 4 to 8 inches expected east of Vail Pass and 4 to 10 west of Vail Pass.

The heaviest snow will be at and above 8,000 feet in elevation.

For the Denver metro area, a few light rain/snow showers Friday with a chance for 1/2 inch to 2 inches of snow by Friday evening over the southern suburbs.

It will be windy and cold with wind chills in the lower 20s, highs in the middle 40s.
