Donations at this time of year are typically down by 20 percent compared to the rest of the year. Currently only 4 percent of eligible Coloradoans donate blood. One single blood donation can save and enhance the lives of up to three patients.
January is National Blood Donor Month. Last year, Bonfils collected nearly 13,000 blood donations in January alone with more than 1,387 donations coming from first-time givers.
With seven community donor centers and up to ten mobile drives a day throughout the state, Bonfils strives to make donating as convenient as possible.
