Denver - First in the mornings. First in the afternoons and evenings. First at night. According to final Nielsen ratings released today for the May 2010 ratings period, 9NEWS continues to build on its 30+ year run of ratings success, winning every news time period of the day, definitively demonstrating why 9NEWS remains Colorado's News Leader.

9NEWS President and General Manager, Mark Cornetta, said, "The success of 9NEWS has everything to do with our people. Our news programs and our storytelling are recognized year in and year out as the highest quality news and information products in the country. We have worked very hard to ensure the Networks of 9NEWS remain committed to serving our community and customers with reliable, interesting and entertaining content and the numbers we are seeing this book are a total validation of those efforts."

The Adults 25-54 ratings are unquestionably impressive. Dominating wins for 9NEWS Daybreak at 5 and 5:30 a.m. set the tone, marking the first in a series of successes for 9NEWS throughout the day. Couple that with an overwhelming 2.8 rating/23.7 share (A25-54) for 9NEWS 6 a.m. and it becomes clear more people make 9NEWS their choice for morning news than all other stations combined.

9NEWS is equally dominant in weekend mornings. 9NEWS Saturday Morning, for example, leads the time period with a 2.4 rating/16.5 share compared to a .7 rating/4.7 share for the competition on the local ABC affiliate.

The weekday early morning national news race from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. is even more impressive as The Today Show (20.4 share) crushes all challengers, cruising to an easy win by defeating both ABC's Good Morning America (6.2 share) and The Early Show (2.7 share) on CBS.

At noon, 9NEWS again out-delivers the combined audience of the news competition.

The enormous success of 9NEWS in the morning would make any station proud, but that success carries over into each successive day part. KUSA is Colorado's News Leader in every local news time period.

Ellen leads the charge from the afternoon into the evening, handily defeating both Doctor Phil and Doctor Oz at 3 p.m.  4 o'clock@9NEWS is even more impressive by delivering more than four times the rating and share of its nearest local news competitor (A25-54).

9NEWS starts the day strong; 9NEWS finishes the day strong. In the signature 10 p.m. news race, 9NEWS wins the final news slot of the day with a showing nearly equal to the combined totals of both KCNC and KMGH. Anchors Adele Arakawa and Mark Koebrich, chief meteorologist Kathy Sabine and AP/CBA award-winning sportscaster Drew Soicher have again proven why 9NEWS is Colorado's most watched television station from Mon-Sun 5am - 5am.

Vice President and News Director, Patti Dennis, said "Being number one in every newscast is what we strive for every day, but the 'firsts' we stress in our Information Center are all about our customers. 'Get it right, get it first and push that content across all our platforms first' has always been the key to our success. This book is another great story for 9NEWS."
