Denver, CO - National Emmy voters have chosen 9NEWS as a nominee for Outstanding Regional Spot News Coverage for the 31st Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards. 9NEWS Northern Information Center reporter Adam Chodak and veteran photojournalist Gary Wolfe received the nomination for their compelling coverage of the devastating tornado that struck the Colorado town of Windsor in May 2008.
9NEWS President and General Manager Mark Cornetta said, "We are all very proud of Adam and Gary for their outstanding storytelling."
The pair won the Heartland Emmy regional award in 2009 for their coverage which vaulted them into the running against other regional winners in the national contest.
"For both Gary and me, it was a remarkable experience both to witness the tornado and cover its aftermath," said Chodak. "It was an honor to win (the regional award) for our coverage and it's humbling to have our work placed in contention with so many other deserving stories and storytellers."
The 31st Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards will take place September 27 at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway in New York City. Winners will receive a special National Television Academy plaque featuring the golden Emmy figure.
Adam Chodak has previously won one Heartland Emmy Award (for the Windsor Tornado) while Gary Wolfe has won three Emmy awards over the course of his career.
