According to final Nielsen ratings released today for the May 2011 ratings period, 9NEWS on KUSA continues to build on its 30+ year run of ratings success, winning every local news time period of the day, definitively demonstrating why 9NEWS remains Colorado's News Leader.

The Adults 25-54 ratings are unquestionably impressive. Dominating wins for 9NEWS Daybreak at 5 and 5:30 a.m. set the tone, marking the first in a series of successes for 9NEWS throughout the day. 9NEWS 6 a.m. continued its morning dominance, growing an impressive 11% in both rating and share year to year.

9NEWS is equally dominant in weekend mornings. 9NEWS Saturday Morning at 7 a.m., for example, leads the time period in Adults 25-54 with a 2.2 rating and 15.8 share compared to a .8 rating with a 5.8 share for the competition on the local ABC affiliate.
The weekday early morning national news race from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. is even more impressive as The Today Show (18.2 share Adults 25-54) crushes all challengers, cruising to an easy win by defeating both ABC's Good Morning America (8.6 share) and The Early Show (3.5 share) on CBS.
The success of 9NEWS in the morning would make any station proud, but that success carries over into each successive day part. KUSA is Colorado's News Leader in every local news time period.
Ellen leads the charge from the afternoon into the evening, handily defeating both Doctor Phil and Doctor Oz at 3 p.m. (Adults 25-54). 4 O'clock@9NEWS is even more impressive by delivering more than three times the rating and share of its nearest local news competitor (A25-54).

At 5 p.m., 9NEWS dominates the time period by again besting KCNC by more than 36% in Adults 25-54 rating points and KMGH by 171% (A25-54).

In the network news race at 5:30 p.m. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams is Colorado's first choice for national news, easily eclipsing the combined totals of the network broadcasts on CBS and ABC.

At 6 p.m., 9NEWS continues to dominate the early news by delivering 140% more ratings (A25-54) than the other local news competitor in the time period.

In the signature 10 p.m. news race, 9NEWS wins the final news slot of the day in the Adults 25-54 demographic AND Households with an impressive showing, especially when considering the strength of lead-in programming on the competing networks. Anchors Adele Arakawa and Mark Koebrich, chief meteorologist Kathy Sabine and sportscaster Drew Soicher have again proven why 9NEWS is Colorado's most watched television station Mon-Sun 5a-5a among adults 18 and over, adults 25-54 and persons age two and over.

Next to the success of 9NEWS broadcasts, the digital platforms of 9NEWS continue to grow as well. Sites from 9NEWS.com to Metromix.com, Momslikeme.com and Highschoolsports.net, as well as the 9NEWS mobile site and mobile apps, account for more than 37 million page views in May.
