Denver, CO - For the fourteenth year in a row, 9NEWS dominated the proceedings at the Marriott Denver Tech Center Saturday night, capturing the Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA) Metro Market Station of the Year award. KUSA received a total of 31 awards during the annual ceremony including 18 first place awards, more than any station in the storied history of the CBA. 9NEWS swept first and second place in more than half of the 23 categories in which it was eligible to enter on its way to an unprecedented 14th consecutive Station of the Year title. Drew Soicher and Susie Wargin swept the Best Sportscaster category while 9NEWS at 10 claimed top honors for Best Newscast and 9NEWS.com won the Best Station Website category.

9NEWS 'Truth Tests' win Cronkite Award

DENVER - The skies over the Front Range opened up Saturday morning just in time for the annual 9NEWS Shred-a-thon, setting the stage for a flood of both paper and cash donations. The benefit event for Metro Denver Crime Stoppers collected a 9NEWS record $82,000 in cash while shredding (so far) 459,368 pounds of paper, unofficially a world record-shattering total for a one-day event of this kind. All the money collected at each of the five Shred-a-thon sites funds reward programs for Crime Stoppers.

DENVER - The National Press Photographers Association recognized 9NEWS reporter Chris Vanderveen for his special gift for storytelling by unanimously naming him the 2012 winner of the NPPA Photojournalism Award for Reporting. The judges' choice for photojournalism station of the year was one of the closest in recent years as 9NEWS fell short in its run at the title by points awarded in a tiebreaker to decide the winner. A win would have increased the previous record of 11 Station of the Year titles held by 9NEWS.

Denver, CO - Thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars in cash donations poured into locations across the front range last Saturday from thousands of Coloradans during the 2011 9Cares Colorado Shares summer food drive. 21 locations in eleven cities from Ft. Collins to Castle Rock combined to collect 82,716 pounds of food. As part of their 'Bringing Hope to the Table' campaign, King Soopers donated $80,000 to 9Cares, bringing this year's cash total to $97,587, a 754% increase from 2010. 9Cares will donate the money collected to buy food and restock depleted shelves at more than 125 local food banks distributed through FoodWorks Colorado.
