$433,000 record donations shatters 9Cares Colorado Shares annual total

Denver, CO - As snow blankets the metro area after a month in which Americans gathered together to give thanks, no one is more thankful than the food banks served by 9Cares Colorado Shares. Thanks especially to the generosity of shoppers at major partner, King Soopers, the 9Cares Winter Food Drive raised a record-breaking $276,222, a staggering 109% increase from last year's previous record. Add that to the record-breaking total from the 2011 9Cares Summer Drive of more than $157,000, and the numbers become even more impressive. Coloradans gave (and gave and GAVE!) 9Cares Colorado Shares more than $433,000!

9Cares Colorado Shares collects 206 tons of food, record $276,222

Denver, CO - On a warm and windy Saturday morning, thousands of people joined in the 29th annual 9Cares Colorado Shares winter drive, generously giving more than 413,000 pounds of food and a record-shattering $276,222 in cash donations, helping to restock depleted shelves in food banks across Colorado.

The 22 Emmys won by 9NEWS is more than the combined wins of all other local news competitors.

9Wants to Know captures national Emmy nomination

Denver, CO - After winning the prestigious Alfred I. duPont silver baton earlier this year for their investigation of a man at the center of a massive, multi-state mortgage fraud, 9Wants to Know today captured a national Emmy nomination for a series of investigative pieces which includes that story and two others in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 32nd Annual News and Documentary Awards.

9Cares Colorado Shares summer drive nets 41 tons of food, nearly $100,000

Denver, CO - Thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars in cash donations poured into locations across the front range last Saturday from thousands of Coloradans during the 2011 9Cares Colorado Shares summer food drive. 21 locations in eleven cities from Ft. Collins to Castle Rock combined to collect 82,716 pounds of food. As part of their 'Bringing Hope to the Table' campaign, King Soopers donated $80,000 to 9Cares, bringing this year's cash total to $97,587, a 754% increase from 2010. 9Cares will donate the money collected to buy food and restock depleted shelves at more than 125 local food banks distributed through FoodWorks Colorado.

Denver, CO - The Radio Television Digital News Association announced Tuesday that 9NEWS reporter Chris Vanderveen has been recognized with the prestigious 2011 National Edward R. Murrow award in the Video Sports Reporting category for a story on Merino, Colorado, wrestler Kyle Kasper.

Universal Sports on the Move

Denver, CO - Starting Monday, January 10, Universal Sports, one of the Networks of 9NEWS, is changing its over-the-air channel location. On that day, it will move from its current position on KUSA's digital channel 9.3 to KTVD My20's digital channel 20.2. Cable viewers are unaffected.

Denver - Thousands of Coloradans reached into wallets and cupboards Saturday to make the 9Cares Colorado Shares 2010 Summer Drive a huge success for families in need. All 17 sites combined collected 81,449 pounds of food, up nearly 10,000 pounds from last year. 9Cares volunteers collected $12,940, money that will go to buy food and restock depleted shelves at nearly 140 local food banks.
