Michael Maher, 31, allegedly used the name "Michael Anderson" when checking out firefighting supplies during the Lower North Fork Fire. A criminal affidavit also says Maher gave a supply clerk a false federal ID number.
Among the items he's accused of checking out and never returning:
• A $900 radio
• Firefighting tools
• Fire shelter
• Chainsaw - valued at $879
• Garden hoses
• Goggles
• Meals ready to eat - valued at $97
According to an affidavit, investigators negotiated with Maher's attorney for a consented search of his Denver apartment.
Inside Maher's apartment, investigators say they found some of the equipment, including a stolen police light bar, six metal U.S. Forest signs, a City of Denver street sign, and a U.S. Forest Service shirt and jacket.
Maher faces several charges in Larimer and Jefferson counties for theft and impersonation.
