KUSA - DC Comics is out with a personalized Justice League Of America issue designed just for Colorado.
The cover shows Justice League superheroes hoisting a Colorado flag. It was inspired by the classic photo taken by Joe Rosenthal for the Associated Press of U.S. Marines on Mount Suribachi in World War Two's Battle Of Iwo Jima.
As special as we might feel, DC Comics is actually doing this for all the other states too. They've commissioned 52 "variant covers" for this first issue of DC's re-invented"Justice League of America."
Written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by David Finch, the covers represent each of the 50 United States as well as Washington DC and U.S. Commonwealth Puerto Rico. Comic industry analysts says this is quite an ambitious move for DC; one that clearly seems to be aimed at appealing to the collectors market.
"We've done a lot of great things with the 'New 52, and now we're putting the focus back on Justice League, with the launch of 'Justice League of America'," says DC Co-Publisher Dan DiDio. "We want to make people realize that this is one of our key franchises, and we plan to build it out not just with the main 'Justice League' titles, but other books that tie into them as well."
