DENVER - Cinco de Mayo is on Tuesday, but you can celebrate over the weekend at the Cinco de Mayo Festival.
The two-day event brings in thousands of people each year to celebrate at Civic Center Park.
There will be several musical performances by Mexican and Latin groups. Many restaurants will also have booths to feature their Mexican or Latin cuisine.
Some other special events include a community parade, home cooked salsa challenge with a public tasting, a taco eating contest and Chihuahua races.
The celebration is produced by NEWSED. This organization helps conduct economic development in poor communities and provides affordable housing opportunities to low and moderate income families.
The festival is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.
