We found a random camera at a Denver intersection

Today's Next Question is one of our own: what's with this creepy looking camera in Denver?

Our Jeremy Jojola was walking near Commons Park Thursday morning when he spotted it mounted all janky-like on a pole. There was a little box underneath that said something about Traffic Engineering.

We checked with Denver Police, and they didn't know what it was.

And then get this...

We went back later to check - and it was gone. We're sure it was harmless, but can you blame us for being a little curious?

Finally, late in the afternoon we heard from Public Works.

It's a traffic study camera. It watches pedestrian and bike patterns along with other traffic patterns to determine whether an intersection needs work.

Those cameras are posted at an intersection for up to 24 hours.

Now you know.

We're totally up to check out weird looking stuff around town. Send it to us with the hashtag #HeyNext.
