Why are you getting text messages from politicians?

A few of you have asked Next, what's the deal with getting random texts, asking people how they're going to vote?

That kind of voter outreach is not something the state monitors, but callers can get your cell number a few different ways.

There are commercially available lists of phone numbers that politicians can buy. Or perhaps you used that number when you registered to vote? That makes it public information.

The only good news we have is that Election Day is 13 days away, so at that point, the only randos texting should be the guy or girl you don't really remember meeting at the bar.
