CARBONDALE - A lot can happen in a year, even a day, but over 100 years -- history is made. One woman has seen a lot of it, she turned 105-years-old on Thursday.

Family and friends of Vera Deimoz celebrated her impressive feat, with a birthday party at the Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale, Colorado. Her great, great niece, Jeri Mero, says up until about a year ago, Vera lived on her own in an apartment.

Mero says Vera loves to be around her family and friends, and when she was younger she loved herding cattle on her ranch. She also tells us her when her family was faced with tragedy, Vera had some words that really resonated with her, and her entire family.

Vera said “if you’ll be my friend, I’ll be your friend. Everybody should try to get along. There’s a lot of sadness, and life is very short.”
