You can help name April the giraffe's calf

HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. - It's time to name the baby! Animal Adventure Park is holding a contest to name the male calf born to April the giraffe.

On its website, the votes cost $1 each, with a minimum of five votes required. You can vote on any name or names you choose for the calf for about ten days,

After that, they will reveal the top ten names. The winning name will be decided five days later.

The funds raised will go to giraffe conservation efforts, the park and other charities.

Animal Adventure Park posted on its Facebook page Sunday that the calf weighs 129 pounds (58.5 kilograms) and stands 5 feet 9 inches tall (1.75 meters).

The zoo team said April has recovered "perfectly" and is eating "everything in sight."

Giraffes are pregnant for 15 months on average, and the wait for April to give birth had raised global interest, with a livestream and a fundraising drive.
