DENVER HALLOWEEN IDEAS 2011
All pumpkins aren't the classic orange. They can be white, blue-gray, scarlet or nearly pink, and there are miniature types as well. I'm particularly intrigued by the "warty" pumpkins with prominent patterns of bumps.
It doesn't take much to create a festive display. Pumpkins can be displayed indoors or out, and last best when they are kept cool but kept from freezing temperatures. Once cut, a pumpkin with begin to dehydrate and will last about five days, depending upon conditions.
An easy way to create an eye-catching display is to use a pumpkin as a vase. Cut off the top and insert any sort of container that fits the interior. Use late-blooming flowers, branches, vines, ornamental grasses and seed heads to create an arrangement with an autumnal look. An arrangement like this is suitable for the front porch, mantle, coffee table or buffet table. Use your creativity to produce a stunning display for just the price of a pumpkin.
