Start with a large platter or flat bowl. I'm using a pot of cyclamens for the center because it's low. A poinsettia plant would be too high unless you use the miniature ones.
I'm placing a few pieces of moistened floral foam around the base of the pot. This isn't absolutely necessary but it helps to hold the cut greens and keep them fresh.
From my garden, I'm cutting small pieces of blue spruce, juniper and grape holly. I also have kale plants that still look good. I'll poke these in to help cover the plastic pot of the cyclamen and fill out the platter.
Then I'll also add pinecones and fruit such as apples, grapes, tangerines, lemons and limes. After the arrangement is finished, brush it with egg white and sprinkle on sugar. This "frosts" the fruit, greenery and flowers with a sparkling glaze.
This arrangement is easy and quick to do. There's no right or wrong way to make it. Use fresh greenery from your garden and some store-bought flowers and fruit to make a memorable centerpiece.
