What $500,000 buys in today's metro Denver housing market

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - OK, so maybe you don't have a million bucks to drop on a house. But how about $500,000?

We researched homes available for $500,000 in 23 metro cities, just like we did last week in the $1 million price range. Here's what we found:

The most "house" from a strictly square footage basis that can be purchased at a $500,000 price-point in metro Denver is a 5,400-square-foot ranch-style that sits on a 1.85-acre plot about 27 miles northeast of downtown Denver in Brighton.

The property is located in the Van Aire Community, an aviation centered subdivision that includes taxiways and a runway. The house was built in 1975 and includes an 8-car garage and attached hangar.
