8th annual Boat Regatta Races for Alzheimer's research

CENTENNIAL- Holly Creek Retirement Community will hold its eighth annual Boat Regatta Races to benefit Alzheimer's Association research Friday afternoon.

The nine teams competing are made up of Holly Creek residents and staff. The boats are handmade out of cardboard and duct tape. One staff member per team volunteers to race the boat in the retirement community's outdoor pool.

This year's theme is 'Colorful Colorado'. Some boat names include The Sinkable Molly Brown and Mile High Salute.

The teams bet on the winning boat to raise money for Alzheimer's Association research. Holly Creek has raised nearly $10,000 through the Boat Regatta Races since its inception.

Holly Creek Retirement Community is located near Arapahoe Road and Holly Street.
