Doug Price
2002 9NEWS Leader of the Year

Doug Price, a native of Colorado, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Buisiness from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1978. In recognition of his leadership potential and service to the community, Doug participated as a scholar in the CU Presidents Leadership Class.

While in college, Doug began his career as a teller at FirstBank of Boulder and became president of the Boulder branch in 1982. Within the next fifteen years, Doug served as president of FirstBank of Denver and FirstBank of Colorado.

In addition to his success in the banking business Doug is a leader in the community. While with FirstBank, Doug was responsible for the creation of the FirstBank Colorado Scholars Endowment, which provides scholarships to SLI students. Through the continued support of FirstBank and its employees, the endowment has grown to $1.68 million and has awarded over $380,000 in scholarships. Most recently, Doug has emerged as a champion of quality childcare for Colorado. After serving as chair of the Business Commission on Childcare Finance for Governor Romer and as a member of the Treasury Working Group on Childcare for President Clinton, Doug co-founded Educare Colorado, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving early childcare. As a co-chair of the Educare Colorado Board, Doug plays a key role in fundraising and strategic planning to help give kids throughout the state a healthy start. Doug lives in Denver with his wife, Hazel and two kids Alexander and Margaret.
