Joseph Serna
2000 9NEWS Leader of the Year

Joseph Serna is president of the Rocky Mountain Indian Chamber of Commerce (RMICC) and is founder and President of Serna Enterprises, Inc., a Hopi Indian owned printing business with offices in Denver and on the Hopi Reservation.

During Serna's tenure as president of the RMICC, he has seen chamber membership rise from 36 to over 160 members and has designed and implemented innovative ways to serve Colorado's burgeoning Native American entrepreneurial community.

In 1999, Serna oversaw the RMICC's first national pow wow, economic development conference and trade show. Serna is currently working with the chamber's education foundation to develop an innovative American Indian youth entrepreneurship program. Serna participates with the Minority and Women's Chamber Coalition and the Minority Business Entrepreneur Input Committee of the Rocky Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council. He is a council member of the Kindred Spirits of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and is a member of the Pikes Peak Coalition of the Chambers of Commerce. Serna was awarded the 1997 Small Business Supplier of the year award for Minority Enterprise Inc. and the 1998 Small Minority Business of the Year for the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.

Joseph Serna is a member of the Hopi Tribe of Arizona. Joe and his wife Bambie live in Westminster, Colorado.
