On 9NEWS 5 a.m. we spoke to lead singer Tom Higgenson about the Illinois band's new CD "Big Bad World" and their low-to-no-budget music video.

Already an internet hit, the video for "1, 2, 3, 4" (subtitled "I Love You") features Higgenson performing the song at many popular locations in Chicago for passing couples who stopped to watch. But it's the video's online interactive quality that fans really love. The video is unique in that you can go online and put yourself and your loved ones in the music video and then dedicate it with a caption.

The video was filmed on the cheap. Armed with only a camera and a guitar, Higgenson paid a friend to shoot it, by buying him lunch.

Higgenson said if the album sounds like something your parents could have listened to, it's because it is. The band made an effort to record the CD "Big Bad World" live in the studio with vintage instruments so that it "sounded a little more timeless and like it could have been from any generation."

He also said the band truly appreciates all the comments and stories that fans share on the band's website, Myspace and YouTube pages about their songs. The "Plain White T's", hit the road March 12. For more information about the band and their video for "1, 2, 3, 4" click here.
