KUSA - Hundreds of firefighters and community members will honor the firefighters who died in the September 11 attacks with a stair climb at Red Rocks on Sunday.
The 2016 Colorado 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is being held to commemorate the 15th anniversary of those who selflessly gave their lives on September 11, 2001.
Participants will pay tribute to the firefighters by completing nine counter-clockwise laps around the amphitheater. The route is designed to be equivalent in height to the 110 stories of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers.
The climb is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Upper South Lot. A $35 fee to participate includes a lunch and concert following the climb.
1,800 climbers from 15 states participated in last year’s event.
