DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The 100 or so patrons who shuffled into the Sie FilmCenter on Tuesday weren’t racing for the first open table and thrusting out their wine glasses for a sample.
Similarly, the more than 500 people who will cram into a tented area near the Pepsi Center for “The Shakedown” on Friday night may have a glass of wine, but it won’t be their top priority.
Yet, both of the events are part of the Denver Food + Wine Festival, an event that has been going strong for 12 years but has taken on a different size and complexity than it boasted when it launched. And the event, which will culminate its now six-day schedule this weekend, is just one example of how wine festivals in the Denver area are taking on a far different shape than they used to hold.
