Tri for the Cure participants race for women

DENVER - Tri for the Cure is a sprint distance triathlon that consists of a 750-meter swim, a 18.3K bike ride and a 5K run.

**UPDATE: She finished the Tri for the Cure in 2:21:15 with a proud smile on her face.**

Noriko Townsend, 59-year-old, triathlete with a paralyzed right leg was on 9NEWS Saturday morning to talk about her experience and the race.

Participants can register for the race individually, or as a two or three person relay team.

The event is put on by Bright Pink, a non-profit focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women, while providing support for high-risk individuals.

Their mission is to save women's lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age.
