Longtime LoDo restaurant and bar closing its doors to make way for redevelopment

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The Celtic Tavern and its sister bar next door, Delaney's in LoDo will close this weekend.

The restaurant and bar, located at 1801 Blake St., is an area that's undergoing major redevelopment called The Dairy Block. The development, under construction now, will include The Alley, a "micro-district" with local and regional retailers and chefs, as well as The Maven, a 172-room boutique hotel.

“We are redeveloping the entire block with a new vision that will be catalytic in nature similar to Denver Union Station" said Mark Witkiewicz, senior vice president of McWhinny, the Denver-based developer building The Diary Block. "We are focusing on a new mix of tenants for Downtown to create another great experience similar to DUS."

An employee, who wished to remain anonymous, said The Celtic Tavern was profitable. The restaurants' 15-year lease recently expired, and the employee said they were unable to renew the lease.
