Easter sunrise service at Red Rocks

Tomorrow morning, the Easter sunrise service at red rocks will happen after a brief hiatus.

MORRISON - Thousands flocked to Red Rocks on Sunday to watch the sun rise over the amphitheater and listen to the annual Easter service.

Bishop Jim Gonia with Rocky Mountain Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America was the speaker.

The first Easter sunrise service was held in 1947, around five years after the amphitheater was dedicated.

In 2016, the service was canceled after nearly two feet of snow fell in the area days before Easter.

If you missed the service, feel free to watch it in its entirety below.
