AURORA – When members of Centennial Lodge #4 wanted to think up a service project, kids came to mind.
With connections to local barbershops, members thought they could use those skills to help kids look and feel their best.
Members of the lodge got local barbers to volunteer their time for the group’s first-ever marathon of haircuts. Barbers will be clipping and buzzing from five hours this Sunday… all for free.
The event offers free haircuts for kids ages 12 and under. All parents need to do is show up with the children and wait for the barbers to work their magic.
“It’s important to give this service to kids to be able to give them a sense of self-confidence with a new haircut at the beginning of the school year,” said Centennial Lodge #4 Junior Deacon Jerad Evan Young.
He added the free service can also help parents who are struggling to make ends meet.
“It also enables parents who are in need to be able to save money for other necessities,” Young said.
The Cut-a-Thon will happen on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Centennial Lodge #4 (650 Billings St. Aurora, CO 80112).
The event will also offer free health screenings for kids and adults.
