DIA employees rescue abandoned dog

DENVER - Denver International Airport officials are trying to determine who left a malnourished dog outside DIA's sixth level passenger drop off area.

The dog was found Thursday with her leash and collar. Officials believe she was abandoned because she was discovered tied up.

Airport employees worked as a team to take care of the dog and eventually she went home with United Airlines employee Mike Scott.

Scott says airport officials did call animal control but he decided to care for the dog himself.

"We were concerned about going to animal control because [the dog] wasn't doing very well we didn't know what might happen to it," Scott said, "So I took the dog last night and took her to my place."

Scott took the dog to a veterinarian who confirmed she was malnourished. The United Airlines employee is still deciding whether to keep the dog.

At last check, DIA had no reports of missing animals.
