 Susie Wargin     4 months ago

KUSA - A brain injury occurs every 23 seconds. Approximately 5.3 million Americans currently have long-term or lifelong need for help to perform daily activities as a result of a traumatic brain injury. Yet given this nationwide problem, public awareness of brain injury is very low.

For the latest Sidebar, Gavin Attwood from the Brain Injury Association of Colorado (BIAC) stopped by to shed more light on the types of injuries they commonly see and to talk about adventure camps they run to help those dealing with brain injuries.  To watch the interview, visit the video link to the upper right of this article.

BIAC offers single and multi-day camps in the Denver area and also in Summit County.  The Challenge by Choice programs are always in need of volunteers and donations to help support the camps and scholarships.  To find out more about the camps and the organization, visit www.biacolorado.org or call 303-355-9969.

BIAC's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with brain injuries and their families and support programs to prevent brain injuries.
