Viral Coke ad remake shot in Colorado

KUSA – It's common to see soft drinks on TV, but a new ad is very different from the one's we're used to.

Colorado production company Lumenati made headlines with their reality remake of an iconic Coca Cola ad from the 90s called "Change the Tune."

They were hired to make the ad by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a nonprofit advocacy group.

Their ad warns of the possible side effects of too many sugary drinks.

"They came to us, you know, seeking a way to bring awareness to the public, which is usually in a viral video way," Scott McDonald with Lumenati Productions said.

The video has gotten thousands of views in the past couple of days.

The people featured in the video are health professionals and people suffering from diseases related to soda consumption. They're all from Colorado.

Dr. Helen Lawler with the University of Colorado Hospital calls obesity in the U.S. a "major problem." She says the main culprit is the high fructose corn syrup found in soft drinks.

"I do think limiting soda and drinking more water is definitely recommended," she said.
