Perhaps you were at work and didn't get to see the Rockies game Wednesday afternoon. If that's the case, then you missed a bench-clearing brawl.

Nolan Arenado was up at bat when Padres pitcher Pedres Luis Perdomo threw a ball near him. The ball did not hit Arenado but he immediately charged at Perdomo and punched him. That led to a massive brawl on the field. Tensions had been high between the teams even before the fight.

"I wasn't expecting to get hit personally," Arenado said after the game. "I had a feeling they could probably do it to someone, I didn't think it was going to be me but it was."

Nolan Arenado, German Marquez and Gerardo Parra have all been ejected for their roles in the brawl. For the Padres, Luis Perdomo and A.J. Ellis have also been thrown out.

"Nolan reacted," said Rockies Manager Bud Black after the game. "I mean there was a ball thrown behind his head and he reacted. I'm sure that he felt that it was intentional and he wasn't going to have it."

Following the game Arenado said he expected to be suspended for his actions, but hopes it won't be too long.

"I didn't like it, they thought they had to do something I thought I had to do something to and that's kind of why I went out there," Arenado said.
