Guardrails could be coming to where deadly crash happened in Morrison

It's been almost five months since a man, who was legally drunk, crossed into oncoming traffic on I-70 in Morrison.

Jeffrey Stumpf died on July 30 when he crossed the grass median and went into oncoming traffic. He also killed a woman in the SUV he crashed into.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said back in August it was looking into adding barriers in that area, where three deadly crashes have happened in the last 20 years. As of December, a guardrail is still not in place.

This week, CDOT told 9NEWS that funding has been identified for that project, and in the Genesee area. If everything gets approved, they hope to begin work next summer.
