Netting expansion at Coors Field slated for early March completion

The Colorado Rockies -- as well as all major league ballparks -- will upgrade its protective netting at in time for the 2018 season.

The installation at Coors Field is targeted for completion by early March.

It includes installing protective netting behind the home plate, replacing the current netting with upgraded material and extending it to the end of each dugout (at the same height).

The netting extension will improve fan safety.

The MLB made the announcement for league-wide protective netting on Feb. 1.

The upgrade is one of several construction projects underway at Coors Field.

Other projects include a new scoreboard, speaker improvements, partial renovations of the Wells Fargo Club Level and home clubhouse and infrastructure maintenance.
