The Colorado Rockies are wearing black caps with a red "S" interlaced with a "D" to honor the Parkland school shooting victims in their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday afternoon.

The Major League Baseball team posted on Twitter the picture of the caps meant to honor the high school students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen people were killed in the shooting there on Valentine's Day. Fourteen others were hurt.

"We are all #ParklandStrong in support of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School," the Tweet from the Rockies read.

The team also tweeted about a Rockies prospect - and Stoneman Douglas alum - Colton Welker. The player graduated from the school just two years ago. The 20-year-old was in the team's training room when he heard the news of the shooting, according to the team.

He found out that the athletic director from when he played there and the sister of one of his best friends both died in the shooting. Welker is the team's No. 4 prospect and is in uniform for the team on Friday against the Diamondbacks.

The team is in the middle of Spring Training before the 2018 season starts. They play the Diamondbacks at the end of March for their first game of the season. Their home opener is Friday, April 6 against the Braves.
