Rapids promote Pádraig Smith, Wayne Brant

The Colorado Rapids announced two front office promotions Thursday morning.

Pádraig Smith, previously the Interim General Manager, has been promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager, the club's top executive position. Smith will continue to oversee all soccer operations of the Rapids.

Wayne Brant, previously Interim Chief Business Officer, was named Senior Vice President of Business Operations, overseeing all day-to-day business operations.

“For both Pádraig and Wayne, these are well-deserved promotions,” said Matt Hutchings, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, in a press release. “They have managed this transition period very well, and given their combined knowledge and experience, we look forward to watching them guide this club to success both on and off the field.”

Smith, who oversaw the Rapids' head coaching search at the end of 2017, is excited for the Rapids' future.

“I’m delighted about the direction we’re heading as a club,” Smith said in a press release. “I want to thank the Kroenke family and the KSE executive management team for the opportunity to lead this club. Both Wayne and I will do everything in our power to bring another MLS Cup to our supporters and the Colorado community as a whole.”
