Snow in the Black Forest area.

KUSA — The storm was fashionably late, but it ultimately did show up.

A storm system brought “widespread rain showers” to the Denver metro area Friday evening, and snow Saturday morning.

Some parts of the mountains, meanwhile, could get up to 18 inches of accumulation, with 6 to 12 inches expected in resort areas – making for epic conditions for the various closing weekends.

In the foothills 3 to 7 inches is forecast from I-70 to the north, with 4 to 8 inches from I-70 to the south.

On Saturday morning Denver will see rain and snow through noon. Saturday afternoon will be dry and damp.
