AURORA - Shoppers packed grocery stores all over the metro area Thursday ahead of the storm.

The grocery rush began first thing in the morning and was been steady all day and into the evening.

Customers at several stores across Aurora reported long lines, packed parking lots, and one tweeter even used the word "Armageddon" when describing the crowds at his store.

It was difficult to find a parking space at the King Soopers at the 4600 block of Leetsdale in Glendale.

Assistant store manager Leo Villalva says Thursday is usually one of their slower days, but the traffic ahead of the storm was similar to the day before Thanksgiving.

"A lot of people are coming in saying what's going on? You know, doing their normal. But a lot of people are saying, 'I heard 24 inches, 12 inches.' It's been an all-day continuous thing. We're very busy," Villalva said.

9NEWS checked with stores to find out the top items people were buying. Milk, bread, and eggs are on the list. Canned goods like soup and chili, snacks, and toilet paper rounded out the list of hot selling items.

People say they are making sure they're ready for everything just in case they get snowed-in.
