This event recognizes 50 companies that are in their second stage of growth. Boulder Ice Cream is one company recognized for developing valuable products, creating quality jobs and enhancing the community.
After moving to a different location, the owner began selling the ice cream not just to individual customers but expanded the product to restaurants and grocery stores.
"When we moved locations, the rent was higher. We didn't have the foot traffic. We did on the Peal Street Mall, so I started thinking, 'how do I run revenue through the business?' That got us doing back-door business and decided to sell to restaurants and then grocery stores after that," Boulder Ice Cream owner Scott Roy said.
Although the company got off to a bumpy start, they have expanded tremendously.
"King Soopers, Whole Foods and a lot of independent natural food stores [are carrying the product.] We are also expanding into California and Arizona," Roy said.
