Hope Marie Sneed with the bureau says one such company is The City Tour. It promised gourmet restaurant walking tours but left consumers stranded.

Sneed says when looking for deals make sure it comes with a guarantee. Check with the BBB before making a purchase. If you don't get what you paid for, you can seek a refund. If you can't get a refund you can file a formal complaint with the BBB.

Daily deals can be a good way for businesses to market themselves. But Sneed points out that deals can also cause a business to become overwhelmed because they get a huge influx of customers they can't support. Sneed says if a business finds it's having trouble delivering on its promises it should contact the BBB for help.
